Safe Haven Housing is a compassionate solution to provide support for reliable housing, food, health care, and security for asylum seekers while they focus on presenting their cases to Immigration Authorities.<\/em><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-huge-font-size wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator is-style-dots\"\/>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"has-text-align-center wp-block-heading\"><strong>\u201cSafe!\u201d&nbsp;<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Donate to the Safe Haven Trust and help support an existing Safe House (Wharenui Ahuru&nbsp;Mowai) in Favona, Auckland, and three more houses planned for Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>These houses will be used to provide housing for asylum seekers and refugees at the lowest possible cost for those who have fled to Aotearoa as a place of refuge,<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>In 2021, 605 people claimed asylum protection in NZ under the provisions of the United National Convention on the Status of Refugees enacted in 1960<\/strong>. <strong>In 2024, 2.365 people claimed asylum &#8211; a tidal wave of fleering asylum seekers has hit us. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The indigenous people of Aotearoa have core values that they practice for welcoming people; &nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><em>Whanaungatanga \u2013 embracing people in to the family<\/em>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><em><strong>Manaakitanga&nbsp;\u2013&nbsp;honouring&nbsp;and respecting people by providing generous hospitality&nbsp;<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>These houses enable us to demonstrate these values.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The four dwellings will cost $3,900,000 plus purchase costs of $15,000. In addition, furnishing costs are estimated at $75,000. We have already purchased one house for $875,000 and have asylum seekers living safely in this house in Auckland. This purchase was made possible by the 1071 supporters we already have of which 335 gave a donation. We are now campaigning for funds on the streets of Auckland.
